emerald cut wedding bands

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our By Bonnie blog, where we talk about all things diamonds! This highly requested blog is all about my new diamond band, a dream come true that I've shared on my social media. Today, I'm excited to show you a bonus: the entire range of emerald cut bands, from 1.5 carats to a stunning 13 carats.

1.50ct Petite Emerald Cut Diamond 1/2 Way Band

The first piece in the spotlight is our super petite emerald cut band. It extends about halfway around the finger and features petite emerald-cut diamonds, each weighing approximately 0.09 carats. This band measures 3.4 mm in width and boasts our newest, low-profile design.

This band is an exquisite pairing for emerald-cut diamond center stones and can also complement ovals beautifully. If you're looking to add contrast to your ring set, it's a popular choice among our clients.

The oval and emerald-cut combination provides a striking look without overshadowing the sparkle in your ring, allowing you to customize your set to your heart's desire.

4ct Emerald Cut Diamond Eternity Band

Now, let's make a comparison with the second band, the 4ct Eternity version. This band measures about 3.8 mm in width, and each diamond is at just about 0.20 carats, also known as 20 pointers in the trade.

When you compare the 9 pointers (0.09ct) from the previous band to these 20 pointers, you can immediately notice the size difference between the two, along with the distinction between eternity and halfway bands. One thing you should keep in mind about the Eternity band is that it cannot be resized later on. With that in mind, let's quickly pair the 4ct version with a 2.25 carat diamond set in a four-prong 2.3 mm band.

As you can see, it sits seamlessly flush, thanks to the cathedral setting, which creates a comfortable space for a thicker band. If you're considering a more substantial band, this type of setting accommodates it exceptionally well.

5ct Emerald Cut Diamond Eternity Band

Next in line is the 5ct Emerald-Cut Diamond Eternity Band, a larger and equally exquisite option around 4.3mm wide and each individual diamond weighing in at about 0.25ct each.

This comparison helps you gauge the feel and look of these bands. The low-profile setting is perfect for smaller stones, allowing them to shine.

Here we have paired it with a round solitaire, emphasizing the importance of clear communication with your jeweler to ensure a harmonious set. If you don’t communicate this with your jeweler, you could end up with a non-flush setting!

8.50ct Emerald Cut Diamond Eternity Band

Moving on, let's compare the 5ct (quarter-carat each) and an 8.50ct (half-carat each) band. As we move up in carat size, we introduce a different setting style – the double gallery. This allows for a more secure hold as the stones get larger. There are two variants: the traditional double gallery and the open U gallery, which caters specifically to emerald cut bands.

The open U gallery has a slightly lower profile, ensuring a secure and elegant fit for the stones.

When you put these two bands up against each other, the difference becomes quite clear, illustrating the impact of per-stone carat weight.

The 8.50ct and the 5ct bands come in different lengths, a crucial detail that influences how they appear on your finger.

Lastly, let's dive into my personal ring. Your requests for all the details have been heard, and I'm thrilled to break down my ring's specifics for you!

13ct Emerald Cut Diamond - Bonnie’s Band

So here it is! This is my personal ring, which features emerald cut diamonds, each weighing in at a sizable 0.85ct, making it a substantial ring, even when compared to our 8.5ct band’s half-carat diamonds. Size considerations played a role in my decision, although this may not be my ultimate size goal. (The visual comparison includes the 0.25ct-each band for reference!)

The length of my ring (0.85ct each) measures 6.55 mm, while the 0.50ct-each band is 5.55 mm in total, demonstrating the difference in size. I personally adore the bold, powerful look of my ring, but for those seeking a more subtle appearance, 0.50ct each is an excellent option.

I've always been captivated by the elegance and sophistication of an emerald cut diamond’s step-cut facets and their uniquely refined look, even if they don't sparkle as intensely as radiant cuts. But, I’ve also always had a soft spot for radiant cut diamond bands. So as a bonus, I'll be showing you...

…the radiant cut version!

So this is in a more petite size compared to the emerald cut. The key distinction is the intensity of sparkle. Radiant cut bands are known for their vibrant and intense sparkle, a characteristic that resonates with many clients, especially in such a petite size.

While I personally adore the subtle elegance of emerald cut bands, there's no denying the allure of radiant cuts, particularly for those who favor a dazzling and effervescent look.

What To Know Before Buying A Diamond Band

If you're considering an emerald cut diamond band, it's essential to pay attention not just to the total carat weight but also the per-diamond size. Why? Because your finger size matters.

finger size mattersfinger size matters

For instance, if you are a size 5 and you purchase a 4ct (total weight) band, this will look completely different than if you were to buy the same exact 4ct band, as a size 6. And how does that work? Well, if you want to spread the same amount of diamond weight across a longer distance (aka a bigger finger), then each of those individual diamonds are going to have to be smaller. So when you're shopping for a wedding band or eternity band, understanding the per diamond size is key to knowing the look you're getting.

Now, let's address the questions I know you've been itching to ask: Which is best: lab-grown or natural? Well, here's the scoop – one of the emerald cut bands that I shared with you is lab-grown, while everything else you've seen in this video is made with natural diamonds. Were you able to figure out which one is which?

We offer both options, so when you're shopping for your eternity band and wondering whether to go with lab-grown or natural diamonds, it's all about your personal preference and budget.
